Data Privacy Training for SMEs
Interactive Micro Learning Module | Storyline 360
Small businesses often struggle to meet data protection standards because their teams lack accessible, scenario-driven training. This module demonstrates how concise e-learning can build awareness of GDPR responsibilities and daily data handling habits.
For office-based or work-from-home employees handling customer or client information.
Duration: ~ 5 mins
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, MindMeister, Google Docs, Canva
Instructional Approach and Learning Objectives
I used contextual discovery and micro-scenario design to drive engagement. Learners explore a 360 degree office scene and identify hidden privacy breaches, such as unlocked laptops or unfiled documents. Each interaction provides just-in-time feedback linking behaviour to real-world impact. A short knowledge check consolidates understanding and reinforces compliance expectations.
Learning Objectives
Recognise common privacy risks in an office or work-from-home environment
Apply secure practices when collecting, storing, and sharing data
Understand what qualifies as personal data under GDPR
Design Rationale
Focused and Concise: Ideal for SMEs with limited training time.
Visual cues and clean layout: maintain cognitive clarity and minimise overload.
Scenario-based Learning: encourages reflection instead of rote compliance.
Outcome
This course illustrates how a small business can transform mandatory compliance topics into quick, memorable learning experiences that genuinely change behaviour.
It also demonstrates my ability to combine visual design, learning theory, and technical implementation (Storyline 360 + AWS S3 hosting).
